I had the fortune of consulting at a financial firm a few weeks ago and when I walked in the door, I realized I was not in Kansas anymore.  People were speaking loudly and emphatically to each other, to customers, and to themselves (I would say screaming and yelling, but I’m trying to be nice).  While I didn’t actually trade places with anyone, I could imagine what it was like to be in their shoes just by being in their office.

The experience made me appreciative of having my own space, of managers from companies past, and made, many of what I considered problems with former employers, to be mere annoyances.

It’s funny how a little chaos can change your point of view, your perception of the past, and therefore, your perception of the future.
